Lucy's Plan for affordable homes
Home is where the heart is, and it's no wonder so many people fall in love with living in South Derbyshire. We need a plan to deliver new sustainable (green) affordable homes. South Derbyshire needs to become more prosperous than ever and enable residents to grow up and raise their families and work here. South Derbyshire has been permitting new build and this needs to be the right mix in the right place complete with the local facilities needed for everyone.
We’re facing a real housing crisis that the Conservative government has failed to tackle. For too many young people and families, getting onto the housing ladder feels impossible.
Lucy cares deeply about housing. Lucy wants to secure over £100million to create new affordable and sustainable homes here in South Derbyshire for young people and families.
As one of the climate champions for Derby, Lucy worked on the planning strategy to create a sustainable environment and to make it easier than ever to build and retrofit homes. We need this foresight across South Derbyshire to build to the highest climate standards.
South Derbyshire needs an MP who is determined to deliver affordable and sustainable housing across South Derbyshire.
Everyone in South Derbyshire deserves a safe and affordable place to live. I'm proud of the work South Derbyshire District Council is doing to deliver more affordable homes, but they could be more sustainable with easy access to services and work opportunities nearby. The Government could be doing so much more to help young people and families caught up in the cost of housing crisis.

- Community led build and expansion of housing
- Upgrade existing housing stock to be more energy efficient and sustainable
- Prioritise the replacement of unsafe cladding and address other housing safety risks
- Not just build the houses that people need but also plan in and build the infrastructure and services the expanded community needs
- Reduce the number of empty homes including little used second homes.
